Colmac generate steam directly from water inside the machine instead of drawing it from a house boiler. They were the first to install a direct water-to-steam tunnel, and the patented boilerless design is now offered across the finishing range.

The reason to care is not the technology, it is the building. A plant without spare boiler capacity normally faces a boiler project before it can face a finishing project, and that is where most retrofits die. This removes that step.

Run the numbers on operating cost against a steam-heated machine on a boiler you already own — if the boiler exists and has capacity, boilerless is solving a problem you do not have. If it does not, this is often the only route to a tunnel at all.
